Gastric banding € 4250

An adjustable band is placed around the stomach to limit food intake and causes the patient to feel full sooner. On the inner lining of the band there is an inflatable balloon connected to a subcutaneous metal port through a tube. By piercing this port with a fine needle, the surgeon can adjust the band with more or less saline to create a smaller or larger opening.

The gastric band is placed by using the laparoscopic technique (keyhole surgery). This is a minimally invasive weight loss surgery.

With lap band surgery, there is no cutting or stapling of the stomach and there is no intestinal rerouting. The operation is completed in a relatively short period of time (approximately 1 hour) and with minimal blood loss.
